Care of self is taught through practical life activities. Practical life exercises include learning basic skills needed on a daily basis. They are everyday life activities that a child learns to do in a purposeful way. The children learn about their own movements
Purposeful work—Children participate in necessary tasks to maintain the order of the classroom, teaching life-long lessons of personal responsibility. Children learn to take responsibility for their own possessions and live in harmony with others.
Environments are designed to allow movements to happen naturally and sometimes purposefully. Materials are carefully displayed around them such that movement is involved while choosing their work. All of the materials and furniture in the classrooms is designed to meet the needs of the children and is arranged in a way that favors their educational development.
